GET TO KNOW JARRET

About Jarret Baker

Hi, I'm Jarret Baker, the director of operations at HVMANE Studios. With over 30 years in the entertainment/production industry, I've had the pleasure of experiencing the electrifying energy of live shows from the inside. There's nothing quite like the vibe of a live audience, and it's that magic that has driven my career.

My Journey

I've had the incredible fortune of touring the world and working with legendary artists like Kiss, Black Sabbath, Korn, Luther Vandross, and George Strait, to name a few. One of my most memorable moments was at a European festival, where the simple act of testing a microphone in front of 50,000 people turned the sound check into an interactive experience with the crowd.

Professional Background and Philosophy

Throughout my career, I've worn many hats: system technician, system engineer, crew chief, video engineer, lighting designer, set designer, and front-of-house engineer. My time at Showco was particularly formative, shaping my approach to sound production and solidifying my passion for this industry.

For me, the best part of this job is finishing a great show and seeing the joy on everyone's faces—both the artists and the audience. I'm known for always thinking three steps ahead and predicting needs before they arise, a skill that has served me well in ensuring smooth and successful performances.

Why HVMANE Studios?

Joining HVMANE Studios wasn't a transition but a natural growth into creating a supportive environment for local artists. Here, we provide the tools, training, and space for artists to thrive and explore their creativity.

Staying Ahead and Beyond the Studio

Reading industry blogs and following influential people and companies I trust is essential to keeping up with the ever-evolving entertainment industry. Outside of my professional life, I enjoy collecting stickers and researching production equipment, systems, and networks. My advice to new engineers is simple: listen to music constantly, but do so analytically to understand and know how different genres are mixed and produced.

Guiding Philosophy

"We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams." This quote from Willy Wonka perfectly captures my approach to life and work: I always dream big and make those dreams a reality.
